Diagnosis of Stage III Periodontitis and Ambiguities of the “Gray Zones” in Between Stage III and Stage IV

Introduction How to best classify the Stage III and IV periodontitis cases that share common features of most severe clinical attachment loss radiographic bone loss? Case Presentation Two patients presented generalized periodontitis, with probing depth would meet inclusion in both IV. The retained all teeth but were further complicated by drifting secondary occlusal trauma. Appropriate disease classification required judgement led final III, Grade C for cases. Conclusion Patient-based judgement, aiming long-term preservation natural dentition, drives assignment staging when case falls “gray zone” focuses on major differences periodontitis.
